ISO7816 Smart Card Testing Platforms

Test platforms for ISO7816 protocol emulate reader to card signals and analyze card responses, or spy on devices to capture and analyze signals between card and reader

KEOLABS provides two test platforms - ContactLAB, NomadLAB - for validation of smart cards implementing contact ISO7816 protocol including sub-protocols:
  • T=0 – for cards and readers using asynchronous half duplex character transmission
  • T=1 – for cards and readers using asynchronous half duplex block transmission

The SWP (HCI, HDLC) protocol is also supported on the same platforms allowing concurrent testing of the ISO7816 and SWP contact interfaces on smart cards (UICC) used for mobile service management in NFC mobile phones.

ContactLAB signal emulator, spy and protocol analyzer provides laboratory class capabilities for validation and certification of contact smart cards. It is implemented in application-specifc and functional certification solutions for the ISO7816 standard.

NomadLAB provides communication spy and protocol analysis capabilities on a platform that is both easily portable and tailored to provide the diagnostic information to support application developers, and engineering teams who are maintaining and supporting fielded smart card products.
